Raveningham Sculpture Trail 26 is now open, where you can see my piece at no 37.

Masked figures representing old gods and spirits of nature – the Stag, the Raven, the Horse, the Dragon and the Wolf – protest the destruction of the natural world. Where they tread, the grass grows again beneath their feet.
My dragon is from the Broads – the Ludham Serpent – the only mythological dragon in East Anglia. Playing with scale, the main 5 are joined by unicorns, hares, boars, bulls, rams, wild cats, and trickster foxes in the tiny processions.

I explore the idea of processions and protest marches as a ritual activity, inspired by watching the Pride March at Falmouth in Cornwall in April 26 with its creative outpouring of animal costumes, make-up, masks, flags, placards and group songs and chants. I have taken part in many protest marches over the years and am interested in how marchers use a similar set of ways of expressing themselves, whatever their cause or purpose.

My protest march uses no words or contemporary symbols.
It is not a political statement, instead a plea for the natural world,
for us all to respect and reconnect with it.
Materials used are mainly home-made, recycled or re-purposed: aluminium from beer cans, home-grown willow rods, a roll of damaged Tyvek (felted material used in building and catering), re-cycled sari string, ends of rolls from a fabric shop, and hardboard made from wood by-products.
All parts of the exhibit are for sale but THEY ARE NOT TOYS! Some sharp edges and fragile materials. Not to be played with by children.
Tiny processions of 5 masks, 2 flags and 2 placards: £35 each
Large procession, including masks, flags and placards: £360
Individual masks: £60 each

Only one more week to see my new installation on show at the Raveningham Sculpture Trail 25 – Alchemy.
In a neglected corner of the garden are the ruins of the old greenhouse. Much pruning and trimming in the spring revealed rusty garden tools and a grape vine, now hung with tiny grapes – the perfect setting for the Alchemist’s Laboratory and the practice of Celestial Gardening.
