Wildlife films and recordings
Meg has been making wildlife films since 2015.
October Otter 2015
Out on the marsh meadow at dawn trying to film mist, alerted by noisy seagulls and crows, a chance sighting of an otter foraging in Blyth estuary pools at low tide was captured on film.
Caught in the Act 2017
A mash-up of trail-camera footage collected by Suffolk Otter Group and edited by Meg with advice from Nicky Rowbottom and additional sound recording.
Drifting in the Drift 2018
After a day or two of heavy snow, a relentless easterly gale blowing off the sea deposited the snow into Bulcamp Drift. Sound was recorded separately facing west, protected from the wind by a thick hedge.
Films combining photos and recordings.
Roosting Swallows 2019
While leading a Listening Walk for Aldeburgh Festival at Snape one early evening in late August, we heard a mass of swallows twittering high up in the air chasing flying ants and saw and recorded them suddenly descending into the reed-bed like a murmeration of starlings. Perhaps the origin of myths about swallows spending the winter buried in the mud. Like starlings they chattered loudly to each other once they were there, with attendant muntjaks calling, curlews and distant traffic.
